As your blood pressure increases, your breathing increases also. As a result, there are elevated levels of oxygen in your blood. Comfort has been shown to reduce stress hormones within the body. Massage has been shown to reduce the levels of cortisollevels, which is a hormone generated during periods of high stress. Cortisol has been shown to improve blood pressure and lower the quantity of nutrients reaching your uterus. So the massage appears to do 2 things at once; it reduces stress hormones also reduces blood flow to the uterus. Yet another way massage may impact delivery and labor is the fact that it relaxes the muscles across the cervix and might actually lower the pressure points across the cervix. The theory behind that is that relaxing the muscles helps prevent them from getting tense and rigid. When you have already given birth, you are aware of how difficult childbirth can be. It can be utterly impossible! If your cervix has been held up or if it feels as though it is about to burst with contractions, then massaging it will certainly be beneficial. If you give birth, then your body is going through changes during the pregnancy. Your hormones are changing, your digestive tract is correcting, your weight is shifting. . .all of these things are happening on their own.
